If your business has seen some of its Google Reviews disappear or fail to appear after a customer claims they posted one, you’re not alone. Beginning around March 11th, users of the Google Business Profile forums reported these issues.
Google Reviews are extremely important for many businesses as they show up in search results for the name of a company. Google Reviews also impact how a business will show up in local search results and map listings. Generally, the more positive and recent reviews a business has, the better it will rank in Google Maps listings.
Fortunately, Google has acknowledged that a bug exists that is causing this behavior and is actively fixing it. Google has even promised to have everything sorted out by the end of the week.
Here is a statement from a Google spokesperson,
Our team is aware of this issue and is actively working to fix it. New reviews that are not in violation of our policies should now be appearing on Google Business Profiles as normal. Reviews submitted over the last week that were not appearing on Google Business Profiles due to this issue should be posted by the end of this week.
